TransTech is Now Open in Charleston, South Carolina

Newest Campus Brings CDL Training to the Lowcountry
TransTech has officially opened a new campus in North Charleston, South Carolina, and welcomed its first class last month. Located at 3601 Meeting Street Road, it’s our third location in the state, joining campuses in Spartanburg and Columbia. The Charleston area has a strong and growing demand for CDL drivers, and this campus is here to help people in the Lowcountry get trained and into careers as truck drivers.
A Look Inside the New Campus

The Charleston campus includes an admissions office, a classroom, a dedicated training yard, and the equipment students need to learn on from day one.

Meet the Admissions Team
Sherry Grunden and Ana Parnell are the enrollment advisors at the Charleston campus. Both are available to answer questions, walk through the process, and help prospective students figure out their next step.

Programs at TransTech Charleston
The Charleston campus offers both Class A and Class B CDL training, with two schedule options.
Class A CDL Training takes students from classroom instruction (air brakes, logbooks, trip planning) through range training and public road time. No prior experience is required. The program is ELDT-compliant and can be completed in as little as 4 weeks.
Class B CDL Training is available for students pursuing careers in straight truck, dump truck, delivery, construction, or waste and recycling.
Schedule options:
- Full-Time: Four weeks, Monday-Friday 8am-5pm. New classes start every other Monday.
- Part-Time Weekend: Ten weeks of Saturday and Sunday instruction, 7am-5pm. A good option for students who need to stay employed while they complete training.
The Charleston Job Market
North Charleston is one of the more active freight markets in the Southeast, driven largely by the Port of Charleston and the distribution and logistics operations connected to it. Construction growth and population increases across Berkeley, Charleston, and Dorchester counties are also keeping demand for drivers steady. Entry-level CDL drivers in the area typically earn between $50,000 and $70,000 per year.
