Programs and Schedules at TransTech Raleigh-Durham
Class A CDL Training
The Class A CDL program at our Raleigh-Durham campus gives students a full foundation from the ground up. Classroom instruction covers logbooks, trip planning, air brakes, and general knowledge. Range and road training puts those skills to work through pre-trip inspection, backing maneuvers, and real behind-the-wheel hours on public roads. The program is ELDT compliant and takes as little as four weeks to complete. Students complete their CDL skills test on-site at the Raleigh-Durham campus.
Class B CDL Training
Class B CDL training is also available at the Raleigh-Durham campus for students pursuing careers in straight truck, dump truck, delivery, construction, or waste and recycling driving. The Triangle’s rapid growth in construction and distribution makes Class B a solid option for drivers who want to stay closer to home.
Flexible Training Schedules
Full-Time Classes
The full-time program is four weeks, starting every Monday. Classes run Monday–Friday, 8am–5pm.
Part-Time Weekend Classes
Ten weeks of Saturday–Sunday instruction, 7am–5pm. A good fit for anyone juggling a current job while working toward a CDL.
The Research Triangle is one of the fastest-growing metros in the country, and that growth is translating directly into freight demand. I-40, I-85, and I-440 give drivers access to markets across the state and beyond. The region is home to a booming e-commerce and distribution sector, a large pharmaceutical and biotech supply chain tied to the Research Triangle Park, and a construction industry running at a high pace to keep up with population growth. Raleigh consistently ranks among the top-paying cities in North Carolina for CDL drivers, driven by the volume of freight moving through the corridor.
Truck Driving Jobs in Raleigh-Durham, NC
There is steady demand across local delivery, dedicated routes, and regional freight throughout the Triangle and into eastern North Carolina. Carriers actively hiring from the area include TMC Transportation, Schneider National, Werner Enterprises, and Stevens Transport. TransTech’s job placement program connects graduates with carriers across all route types.
Truck Driver Salary in Raleigh-Durham, NC
CDL drivers in the Raleigh-Durham market typically start out earning:
$52,000 – $72,000 per year
Based on data from Indeed, ZipRecruiter, and Glassdoor for the Raleigh-Durham market. Raleigh ranks among the highest-paying cities in North Carolina for truck drivers. Regional and OTR drivers commonly earn $72,000–$90,000, with experienced drivers and those with endorsements earning more.
As a previous CDL holder, this is very convenient and allows the student time to learn basics and fully understand "the need to knows" before every driving and backing. A month of learning and 6 weekends of driving, that is it. Instructors are very knowledgeable and through.
Alex Mosely and Haley Brooks have been amazingly helpful and genuinely interested in my motivations, career aspirations, and discussing my concerns. I was able to enroll with a solid understanding and complete confidence in my decision. I am very excited to get going and get behind the wheel! I will update my review as training is underway.
Took the weekend classes and had a great experience. All of the instructors have been awesome to work with, I really learned what I needed to know and had fun doing it. Highly recommend TransTech for anyone wanting to get a CDL
My experience with transtech trucking school has been one of the best experiences I have ever had even though this is my first time going to a trucking school I’m glad I choose transtech the staff is amazing and they make sure you are set to succeed on your journey driving trucks I would highly recommend them to anyone you want be disappointed
TransTech is… kinda what you expect and not at the same time.
First tip — listen very carefully to your recruiter and mentally split everything into pros and cons. Better yet, just drive out to the yard before enrolling so you know exactly what you’re signing up for. Would save some surprises later.
On the positive side, the staff was actually really polite and respectful. Instructors were chill, and they even let students come back and practice after graduation, which is honestly a big plus.
Now the reality part — seat time can be limited. There just aren’t enough trucks, so sometimes you’ll have like 4–7 people sharing one truck. You do the math.
Also, the yard… could really use some love. After rain it turns into something between off-roading practice and a mud survival challenge. Getting stuck in a hole is not exactly part of CDL training (or maybe it is? 😅).
One more thing — they kinda push you to leave a review either at the very beginning or right after passing the exam. And yeah… that’s probably the moment when you’re least likely to say anything negative.
Overall, not a bad place to get your CDL, just come in with realistic expectations.
Best thing I have ever done for myself was joining the program at Trans Tech program was wonderful I had a small class and found the teachers to be on point to the training you would need in this industry, form start to finish I had a good experience and the teachers were outstanding but remember you get back what you put in and I got a 100 percent back, my entire class was outstanding other than us guys being out driven by a girl. Great people, I’m brand new to this industry and was very nervous with lots of questions that Alex and Haley were more than happy to take the time to help me and my boyfriend answer.
Luckily I had a smaller class and awesome classmates of 4 which including myself. I think the max of students is 8 . I would definitely recommend going to trans tech to get your CDL .
I appreciate The instructor Mr. Robert from Winston-Salem Greensboro, learning a lot about him very knowledgeable and most important he know how to teach and help students.
The whole experience changed my whole perspective about trucking for the better. Robert from Winston Salem Greensboro really helped me gain the knowledge I need to start my trucking journey off the right way and I’m thankful for the jewels that he imparted
It's the largest CDL Training company in NORTH CAROLINA and probably the best one. It's a shorter faster course. So not recommended for slow learner. But a great course.
Just got my “certificate of achievement” today 🙌, best school
