Greensboro anchors the Piedmont Triad, one of North Carolina’s most active freight regions. The city sits at the convergence of I-40, I-85, and I-73, placing it within reach of every major market in the Southeast and Mid-Atlantic. The Triad has historically been a hub for furniture manufacturing and distribution, and carriers like Old Dominion Freight Line operate out of nearby Thomasville. Beyond furniture, the region supports aerospace logistics tied to Honda Aircraft Company at Piedmont Triad International Airport, along with food and beverage distribution, healthcare supply chains, and general LTL freight moving through the corridor daily.
The Greensboro market has consistent openings across local, regional, and OTR routes. Carriers recruiting in the area include Schneider National, Stevens Transport, TMC Transportation, and Werner Enterprises, alongside strong regional presence from carriers like Salem Carriers and GXO Logistics. TransTech’s job placement program connects graduates with hiring carriers across route types.
Entry-level CDL drivers in the Greensboro area typically earn:
$50,000 – $68,000 per year
Based on data from Indeed, Glassdoor, and ZipRecruiter for the Greensboro market. Drivers moving into regional or OTR roles can expect $68,000–$85,000, with earnings climbing further for experienced drivers or those with specialty endorsements.
